Looks gorgeous Adam! Wishing you every success with the future of Brackenwood.

A stunning and intriguing addition to Brackenwood

I thought it was absolutely stunning. At first I was taken back by the introduction of narration to the brackenwood series, but it really worked seamlessly and helped to evoke the story and world of brackenwood on a deeper level than before. The art as always was beautiful, but to me the major accomplishment with this entry to the series was the enormous leap you've made with your story telling.

Bitey's selfish/bitter/solitary personality has been suggested previously, but to be given an insight into the "why" was really rewarding, and I immediately felt that I could connect with his character to a greater extent. I loved the glimpses of other animal life in brackenwood (always a highlight of each entry for me) and Bitey's interaction with them, especially the contrast between those interactions as he matured. Baby bitey (that rolls off the tongue adorably) is so cute, and to see the "corruption of his view on life" is really tragic - previous Brackenwood episodes have been much more lighthearted, and this direction of greater depth realy appeals to me.

The music of course requires mention. It wonderfully compliments what's happening on screen, such as his transition from babybitey to... Bitey. The intro music as well is splendid, I love the little subleties like the sound that accompanies his leap away from the bigfoot after throwing the _____? onto his head to attract the... can't remember what they are called. The sound effects are great as well, such as the flapping of the fish in the prowlie's mouth and the sloshing of the jiblets.

The cliffhanger really draws me in. I can't wait to find out more about the history of the Dashkin, my eagerness only heightened by the glimpses offered as he is falling asleep (right before the swirling clouds reminiscent of the Yuyu).

I really love where it's going, and think this is a major accomplishment for you. As I've said, the enormous leap you've made in storytelling is wonderful to see, and I'm more excited now than ever for the future of Brackenwood. At the rate things are going, I don't doubt that one day the Brackenwood movie is going to blow everyone away!

Good stuff!

Not as outlandish as previous 'Steve's, but quite entertaining.
Biggest criticism would be that generally there can be a lot more movement, facial expressions etc.
Loved the retro outro though!
Looking forward to Steve 4 ;)

Neo-Egyptian responds:

Thanks a lot! And yeah I'll definitely work on the movement issues, gotta keep things progressive!

A fantastic improvement

This animation is a huge improvement on the previous animations in the series, well done! The voice acting is great, not too over the top, good expression, clearly spoken. Great use of music to create atmosphere within the scenes, especially after Saria is captured, the music fit the scene perfectly. The most notable improvement was the pacing, the whole animation flowed very well from scene to scene and kept my interest the entire time. The fight scene was well choreographed, not too over the top. The dialogue as well was natural. Diggs' lines were quite funny.

Overall this was a great flash. It is a great improvement on previous animations, and something to be proud of. Looking forward to the next episode!

Blast to the past!

I remember Mecha from ages ago, cool to see you finally submitted it! Ending was very abrupt, but as you said you were rushed to finish. You get a 10 for points for the ParagonX9, chaoz devotion makes my tummy happy.

Nice piece :)

It's finally out ^_^

Glad to see you finally released it Tim, it looks great. I still say those black bars at the top and bottom should be removed, but there's no reasoning with you :P The artwork was good, it was lacking in sound effects but I suppose they might have detracted from the music. The cameos of the Sprite and Shade and the Wump Kidnapper were my favourite parts :P Oh yeah, and Munch's brilliant voice acting :D You should be proud of this, now go make 'Bug Catching'! :)

Edukator responds:

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the review. (not many people notice all the other creatures in there)

Congrats on the three years! :)

"You straight up ATE a box of cake mix?!" - I think I'm going to remember that one :D I gave a 1 for violence, for the tire slashing....which definately wasn't the penguin. Nice to see you went the extra length to refine some minor details, such as the paper rolling up, the cloud coming out of the cake mix box, and the text on the back of the paper. It's small things like those which really add to the overall experience of the flash, it's a pity alot of animators overlook small details. I liked this short, it was entertaining, and informative. We finally know why the space penguins bob when they talk! Congrats once again on the milestone :)

JKR responds:

Well thanks for the kind words! Yes, those minor details are something I'd like to start including in all Fred cartoons. It can be tough sometimes, doing all the animation myself and still getting one toon out a week, but I'm going to try and start adding more and more little touches that will hopefully bring the level of quality up over time. Thanks for the great review!
(And by the way, they're space CHICKENS, not penguins =) but don't worry, everyone says they look like penguins)

Well, I gave you 10's across the board...almost :P

Noooo, it's back!! Com, why do you do it to us man!? Pretty sweet for a day's work man. Concept's as brilliant as ever and the characters weren't too shabby. That guy with the lopsided ear irritated me abit though. Maybe you should rotate it down the side of his head abit. Say, 5 degrees? or maybe......7 degrees? :P

Not bad, funny dialogue.

Very Knox-esque dialogue, ending was funny.

Poor red guy :P

pjdavid responds:

now that i watch it, it does seem kind of like knox's. thats not necessarily a bad thing, so thanks!

Haha, very nice intro, Rupee Clock, great.

And am I mistaken or is that F-Zero music in the easter egg? w000t, Go Captain Falcon !!!!

RupeeClock responds:

Yes, that be an F-Zero midi I found. :)

Thanks for the review!

And I look into the sky and wonder...
